| This page and its sub pages will contain descriptions and pictures of some of the places that have had the biggest influence and have gained the greatest hold on me during my life. From Death Valley, California to Baxter State Park and Mount Katahdin in Maine, from the Melody Bar (R.I.P.) in New Brunswick, New Jersey to the Ocean Deck Restaurant and Night Club in Daytona Beach, Florida, these places have been everything from home to an escape from the tedium and pressures of daily life. | THE MAINE TRIPS In the fall of 1992 I got to make a trip to Baxter State Park in Northern Maine. I was so impressed I quit my job the following spring and spent most of the summer camping and traveling through Maine and the White Mountains including another 5 days in Baxter State Park. I spent seven weeks living in a tent! Click here to see some of the beauty of Maine. |
| APPALACHIAN TRAIL "HOME" SECTION A brief description of my favorite section of the Appalachian Trail in New Jersey. Unfortunately, I cannot locate any of my pictures of this section. |
| DESERT PLACES In late January and early February 1990 I made my first trip to California. After a drive up the coast and an awe inspiring few days in Yosemite National Park we headed over the Sierras and went to Death Valley. It was love at first site. I returned the following February for one night in Red Rock Canyon National Recreation Area and a week in Death Valley. After dreaming about it for three years in late summer 1994 I took a job in Death Valley National Park and moved there. I lived there for almost three years and got to see a lot of the park but not nearly enough. While out there I was also able to make brief visits to Zion and Grand Canyon National Parks and several visits to Red Rock Canyon. In late October 2001, after a four and a half year absence, I finally made a brief return visit to Death Valley and was also able to visit Joshua Tree National Park. Someday, soon I hope, I will be moving back to the Southwest. Click here to visit some "Desert Places". |
